KITM is rooted in the heritage of Kotibarsha and the educational vision of Knocks Educare Foundation.
Kotibarsha — A Historic Legacy
During the Gupta period, the whole North Bengal was known as “Pundra Vardhan Bhukti” (Pradesh). It was again sub-divided into a number of Vishayas (districts). Kotibarsha was one of the districts. Bangarh was the capital of Kotibarsha. Now the maximum area of Kotibarsha is known as Buniadpur–Gangarampur.

Background
Kotibarsha Institute of Technology and Management has been established by a group of professionals having a mix of entrepreneurial and work experience in the IT industry and other industries. The need of such an institution catering to technology and management education of the furthest part of North Bengal was always felt. The strategic location of Panjaripara (Buniadpur) was chosen, as there is no credible Technology and Management campus in Dakshin Dinajpur, Uttar Dinajpur and Malda. This location is chosen because of its strategic positioning with three major economic activity zones — Malda, Raiganj and Balurghat.
